Choosing The Right Material:
Our two main printing materials are polyester and polycarbonate. Polyester provides flex and enables durability for embossing and buttons. While polycarbonate is a fixed printing material and is more suited to flat adhesions. This also contributes to an overall more detailed design for the overlay. At Reid, the materials we choose are selected to withstand all environments. For example, An overlay that is going to be installed in a public place e.g. A train platform – will need to have a high UV resistance as well as be equipped with a durable material and a hard-wearing adhesive. A graphic overlay used in a hospital that is subjected to harsh cleaning materials will need to be resistant to them. Graphic overlays can be scratch resistant, UV tolerant, fire retardant, and chemically resistant.
