Reid Labs

Reid Labs.

Printed Electronics R&D & Prototyping — Brisbane, Australia

The printed electronics R&D and prototyping arm of Reid Print Technologies. We take your concept from idea to production-ready — backed by 35 years of certified Australian manufacturing.

What is Reid Labs

The design gateway to Australian manufacturing.

Reid Labs is the applied R&D division of Reid Print Technologies. Where Reid Print Technologies manufactures components at scale for established OEMs, Reid Labs works with companies still in the design and development phase — providing prototyping, engineering collaboration and regulatory guidance, with a clear pathway to production.

If your product isn’t ready for manufacturing yet, Reid Labs is where the journey starts. If you’re ready to manufacture, talk to Reid Print Technologies directly.

Capabilities

From idea to production-ready.

Reid Labs offers a full R&D and prototyping service across the same technologies Reid Print Technologies manufactures at scale — flexible sensors, printed electronics, wearable technology, medical device components and HMI interfaces.

Rapid Prototyping

From hand-drawn sketch to functional printed prototype. We work to your timeline using the same materials and processes used in full production — so your prototype is production-representative, not a lab approximation.

Engineering Collaboration

Our engineering team works alongside yours to refine designs, validate materials, integrate sensors and ensure manufacturability. We close the gap between what the university lab produced and what the factory floor can make consistently at scale.

Regulatory Pathway Support

ISO 13485 certified manufacturing and deep experience with TGA and FDA product pathways. We understand what compliance-grade production requires — and we design for it from the first prototype, not as an afterthought at commercialisation.

Flexible & Wearable Sensors

IoT, health monitoring, exoskeleton and wearable applications. Stretchable printed sensors on elastomeric substrates, FSR arrays, capacitive touch and proximity sensing — designed for your application, manufactured for the real world.

Medical Device Components

Printed electronic components for medical devices — from first prototype through TGA/FDA regulatory submissions to serial production. ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 13485:2016 certified — Reid Labs Pty Ltd independently certified by Intertek SAI Global, so your design journey starts with the right manufacturing partner.

University & Research Partnerships

Bridging the gap between lab and marketplace. We partner with University of Queensland, University of Sydney and AMGC to translate research into manufacturable products — giving researchers a direct pathway to commercialisation.

Process

How a Functional Material Engagement Works

01
Submission

Material Submission

You supply your polymer paste and print design. We assess printability and agree on screen printing parameters.

02
Measurement

Iterative Printing & Measurement

We print in controlled layers measuring thickness and electrical resistance at each stage, with blending as needed.

03
Reporting

Characterisation Report

You receive a detailed report on print parameters, thickness and resistance results without disclosure of Reid Labs IP.

04
Scale Up

Into Production

Proven formulations move into small production runs through Reid Print Technologies — the same equipment, the same materials, production-representative from day one.

Memphasys — IVF Electrode Sensor

Reid Labs partnered with Memphasys from 2019 to develop a flexible printed electrode sensor for the Felix IVF sperm separation device. Over five years, Reid worked alongside the Memphasys engineering team through concept, prototyping, design refinement, and regulatory submissions — achieving both FDA (United States) and TGA (Australia) approval for the finished medical device.

The electrode sensor is now in serial production at Reid Print Technologies, with output of 16,000 units every two months supplying global IVF clinics. The Memphasys partnership is the definitive proof of what the Reid Labs model delivers: a five-year design and development investment that became a multi-year recurring manufacturing relationship.

How It Works

From concept to production.

01
Discovery

Initial consultation

We meet to understand your concept, your target application and your commercial pathway. From a napkin sketch to a CAD file — bring whatever you have.

02
Assessment

Feasibility & scoping

We assess technical and commercial feasibility, define the scope of work and agree on a project structure. We need a credible pathway to production before we commit our resources.

03
Prototyping

Design & build

Our engineers design, iterate and produce functional prototypes using production-representative materials and processes. Each iteration is tested and validated against your specifications.

04
Production

Transition to manufacturing

Final prototype approval triggers transition to full production at Reid Print Technologies. ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certified — both Reid Print Technologies and Reid Labs Pty Ltd hold independent certification from Intertek SAI Global. The design journey ends at the factory floor — right here in Brisbane.
